Carry out socio-economic surveys
Undertake field work for economic census

Head Quarter of its Data processing division : Kolkata - National Statistical Commission(NSC) :
Set up on 1st June 2005 on recommendation of C. Rangarajan Commission.
NSC assumed charge on 12th July 2006.
